The Edison Neighborhood Association serves the most populous and diverse neighborhood in Kalamazoo. Much like the residents, the housing stock is varied and unique, with sections boasting Grand Boulevards and others with small Terraces and Courts. There is something for everyone. The neighborhood is home to nationally acclaimed Kalamazoo Farmers Market, four parks including the Mayor Riverfront Park, and our own mini downtown Washington Square. Not to mention, small theatres, makers spaces, the best tacos in town, and much more make Edison a great place to Live, Eat, and Play.

Meet the Team

Stephen Dupuie

Executive Director

Stephen Dupuie graduated from Northern Michigan University with a B.S. in Performing Arts. He moved to Kalamazoo in 2005 and, after a few years, into the Edison Neighborhood. Tired of his corporate career in the service industry, Dupuie ventured into entrepreneurship as Artistic Director of his own company in Edison. He is passionate about the community and is looking forward to working with residents to create positive vibes in the neighborhood. Dupuie has a multifaceted plan for Edison's future that will focus on Art, Culture, and Environment. He is a dog lover, food enthusiast, and touts a green thumb.

Emma Master

Program Director

Emma Master, originally from St. Louis, moved to Michigan in 2018 after living in Philadelphia. She earned her BA in photography from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC. While studying fine arts, Emma also got hands-on experience in vegetable farming across various states before choosing to call Kalamazoo home. Her eclectic background in art, agriculture, and hospitality blends seamlessly in her role as Program Director at the Edison Neighborhood Association. Here, she champions public art, culture, and urban homesteading initiatives. An Edison resident since 2019, she thinks the best part of the job is being a community connector and learning from the residents of the neighborhood. She and her husband, with new baby Greta in toe, enjoy caring for their chickens, making pottery, and cooking (mostly soup).

Zach Olson

Crop Production Manager

Zach was raised in Battle Creek where he attended Kellogg Community College for 2 years and then transferred to WMU where he completed his Bachelors in Political Science and Environmental Science and Sustainability. He's worked on small, family farms, mid size organic production farms, student led farms, and various urban agriculture operations and have a strong background in construction focused mainly on masonry and carpentry. Zach is passionate about growing food for people and bridging the gap in farming accessibility as an accomplice to the urban farming revolution and resistance against colonial ways of farming, led by Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other people of color.

Griffin does the day-to-day financial bookkeeping for ENA, organizing financial documents, and making sure our staff, fiscal sponsors, and contractors get paid for their hard work.

The Edison Neighborhood Association Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis and welcomes public comment at the top of the meetings. Each individual wishing to make a comment is limited to 3 minutes per person. If you have any questions about the agenda for the month, please direct inquiries to director@edisonneighborhood.com.
