The Edison Neighborhood Association is launching an Urban Gardening initiative, “Grow Edison”. Part of that initiative will be a New Garden Hub, located directly near the association. It will be utilized to educate and promote sustainable food growing practices. Additionally the garden site will support an on site composting program.
The Lisc Americorps participant will assist with the planning, implementation, and operations of the new "hub".
Support outreach and communication strategies for the gardens hub ie. translation, engagement (flyers, email, social media, website updates, telephone calls, etc.) and meetings.
Cooperatively plan and host social gatherings and educational workshops.
Give presentations to community groups, organizations, and stakeholders.
Organize and supervise volunteers, compile volunteer tasks lists, maintain communication, and solicit volunteer feedback.
Complete garden tasks not accomplished during volunteer hours.
Prior experience in sustainable growing practices is helpful, but not required. We will be working with community partners to help guide and teach us along the way. The deadline to apply is March 10th. Resumes can be sent to director@edisonneighborhood.com
